“Les og Øv” booklets by Cappelen Damm

Our goal was to make a new and fresh alternative to the old “Akka, Bakka” series that schools were still using. They should be both educational and entertaining, with modern design and fun art. I worked in-house as an illustrator on this project, and often discussed ideas with the author/editor and designer. I made a story for the characters, and wrote short 1-4 page comics for each booklet.

“Spansk” books by Cappelen Damm

A series of books for secondary school students learning Spanish. My challenge on this project was to make illustrations that appealed to an older audience than I was used to. For our characters, we chose Don Quixote from the famous Spanish novel, and the skeleton Catrina from Day of the Dead in Mexico. Except for the authors, the production was entirely in-house, so I got to work closely with the editor and designer to come up with ideas. Each chapter has a big illustration, often featuring places in Spanish-speaking countries.
